Don’t create your goals

Don’t Make a list of your goals for 2024!

Ok… let me explain…

When the New Year comes, we all sit down and make a list of all of the things that we didn’t do last year, and all of the new things we want to achieve this year. That’s a great thing to do! There’s nothing like the feeling of a fresh start.

But, if we’re not careful, we can simply choose these goals based off wanting to be our “best selves” and achieve what makes sense in our minds. We can quickly make it all about us! “I this” and “I that”…

This year, I want to make a list of goals that GOD has for me, not goals I sit down and make up in my mind. I want to filter all of my goals through the word of God. I want my desires to be FROM GOD. We should want His blessing on us. My how our lives would change if we lived each and every day exactly how God created us to live. We would be so much happier if we were more Christ like. Our relationships would thrive! I want each and every moment of my life to be lived with purpose, with joy, with love, and with care.

If I truly want these things and desire a successful 2024, I will let Christ lead. I will give Him full control.

God is for me, not against me! He wants me to live a fulfilled life!

I would be a fool to think I have the best plans and ideas for this year, and it would be a shame if I put all of the emphasis on my ability to sustain the goals I have set.

If I’m going to fulfill His plans, I must understand that it will only be done with His help and guidance!

A few verses that come to mind are…

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Proverbs 16:3 - Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Psalms 37:4 - Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

1 Kings 2:3 - And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:

Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

I want this year to be focused on being filled with the fruits of the Spirit! If I would live each day filled with love, joy, patience, long suffering etc. my life would be Christ honoring. May God help us to live this year the way HE wants us to live!
